Kiran Syed, Psy.D.

Kiran Syed, Psy.D. (aka Dr. K) Dr. K provides outpatient psychotherapy and telemental health services to adolescents (13-17 yrs.), adults (18-64 yrs.), and older adults (65 yrs. or older). Her primary treatment modality is Humanistic/Existential; however, she often integrates aspects of other evidence based treatments when needed.  She speaks English and Urdu/Hindi fluently.  She also knows a fair amount of Spanish.

In her practice, she treats an array of mental health issues including (but not limited to):

  • Gender Issues (e.g., gender roles and equality, prejudice, male vulnerability and masculinity, feminist principles)

  • LGBT Issues

  • Personality Assessment

  • Pre/Post-Surgical Counseling

  • Pregnancy and Childbearing (e.g. postpartum depression, pregnancy, fertility, parent-child bonding)

  • Pre-Surgical Psychological Evaluations (e.g. bariatric surgery, sex reassignment surgery)

  • Psychotherapy for Members of the "Helping Professions" (e.g. clergy, counselors, physicians)

Obtained her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University San Diego in 2014 and is a National Register Health Service Psychologist.  She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Asian Americans For Community Involvement in San Jose, CA and subsequently moved to Honolulu, HI to complete her post-doctoral fellowship at Kapiolani Child Protection Center.
